The Legal Secretariat at the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority provides support to the agency's management, departments, and units, and assists the Government Offices in matters within the agency's area of responsibility. The secretariat is led by the agency's chief legal officer, who is part of the agency's management group. The secretariat employs an administrative officer and 14 legal advisors, including the agency's data protection officer. The legal advisors are led by a unit manager.

The secretariat is responsible for, among other things, internal legal support and training, litigation in court, and monitoring legal issues within the agency's area. The tasks also include, among other things, investigation and advice regarding, for example, regulatory activities, regulations, total defense and crisis preparedness, security protection, regulatory issues, data protection, contracts, and international cooperation. The unit is also responsible for the agency's whistleblower function and internal legal governance.

We are now looking for one or more legal advisors.

Societal Important Tasks

We offer you a job where you, in close collaboration with the chief legal officer, unit manager, other lawyers, and departments within the agency, will:

  • support the operations with legal assessments in various areas of law and contribute to the agency making decisions of high legal quality,
  • work on the development of regulations,
  • participate in work with consultation responses, governing documents, and other projects,
  • depending on your background, plan, develop, and participate in training activities, and
  • participate in other tasks that occur at the secretariat.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have

  • Professional degree: Law degree/jur.kand.
  • Notary qualification or experience deemed equivalent by the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority
  • Several years of experience in qualified legal work
  • Good knowledge of administrative law and public access and secrecy legislation
  • Very good ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing
  • Good ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing

It is meritorious if you have

  • Worked as a legal advisor
  • Worked with regulations
  • Experience in advising case officers working with regulatory activities
  • Good knowledge of nuclear technology or radiation protection regulations
  • Experience from the Government Offices
  • Experience from the EU, OECD, or IAEA
  • Experience in international governmental or development cooperation
  • Experience in drafting or negotiating IT contracts, specifications, or governing documents to address regulatory requirements
  • Good knowledge of relevant IT legal regulations
  • Worked with privacy protection legislation
  • Good knowledge of security protection regulations
  • Worked in a knowledge-intensive organization where you collaborated with several other professional categories

As a person, you thrive in collaborations and communicate clearly, where you can explain complex legal issues simply and have the ability to translate complex regulations into usable working methods. The position requires that you are structured and have good judgment.

The employment begins with a 6-month probationary period starting by agreement.

Some of our tasks are classified, which means that a security review with a background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may be conducted before a decision on employment. For some of our classified tasks, Swedish citizenship is also required.

You may be part of the agency's crisis organization and may also be assigned to the agency in case of war. The crisis organization performs radiation protection assessments and nuclear technical analyses and collaborates with other relevant actors to handle radiological emergencies, including situations of heightened preparedness.
